Our client is a fast-growing pediatric healthcare company that delivers play-based autism therapy across the United States. As the organization expands into new states, the Data, AI & Automation team needs a senior data engineer to own their data platform end-to-end. This is a full-stack data role: you'll handle everything from integrating third-party data sources, through transformation and modelling, to building dashboards and analytics. You'll take over stewardship of a recently built architecture that consolidates information from the electronic medical records system, HR/payroll, and finance sources.
It's a long-term, fully remote contract opportunity without an end date. Candidates can be located anywhere in Latin America; strong English communication skills (C1 or higher) are required, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly in writing, document your work thoroughly, and communicate proactivelyβproviding updates without being asked and raising questions early.
Key Responsibilities
Own the complete data lifecycle: integration, transformation, storage, and visualization
Build and maintain data integrations with third-party systems
Design and maintain transformation layers and data models in BigQuery
Build and maintain dashboards and data visualizations in Looker
Implement and maintain DBT for data transformation best practices
Ensure data quality, monitoring, and documentation
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights
Technical Environment
Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Data Warehouse: BigQuery
Visualization: Looker
Transformation: DBT (to be implemented)
Languages: Python, SQL
CI/CD: GitHub Actions
Requirements
5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
Strong proficiency with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery
Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation
Proficiency in Python and SQL
Experience building data integrations with third-party APIs and systems
Experience with data visualization tools (Looker preferred)
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the data platform
Nice to Have
Healthcare data experience (EMR systems, HIPAA considerations)
Experience with Apache Spark
Experience working in startups or small teams where you wear multiple hats
Of Note
A company-issued laptop will be provided; you must maintain a secure, private workspace with a reliable internet connection.
HIPAA compliance training is required before your start date.
Completed background checks will be required if selected.
