Job Title: Sr. Data Engineer/Developer (Snowflake & Matillion)
Location: Hybrid / Remote (U.S.-based preferred; global candidates considered)
Employment Type: 6 Months, CTH
The Challenge
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer/Developer with strong Snowflake and Matillion ETL expertise to support the design, migration, and ongoing engineering of enterprise-grade data platforms. This role is critical to enabling analytics, reporting, and client delivery for a professional services consulting environment, where data reliability, scalability, and performance directly support revenue-generating engagements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience migrating complex data landscapes to Snowflake, engineering robust ELT pipelines using Matillion, and partnering with consultants, analysts, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
Snowflake Data Engineering & Platform Development
• Design, build, and optimize Snowflake data architectures (databases, schemas, warehouses) to support analytics, reporting, and client delivery needs.
• Engineer performant Snowflake solutions using best practices for cost optimization, security, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain secure data access models, role-based permissions, and data-sharing constructs across internal and client environments.
ETL / ELT Development (Matillion)
• Design, develop, and maintain Matillion ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data into Snowflake.
• Implement reusable, parameterized jobs that support multi-client, multi-engagement delivery models common to professional services firms.
• Ensure data quality, validation, and lineage across ingestion and transformation layers.
Enterprise Data Migration
• Lead or support enterprise data and application migrations from legacy data warehouses, on-prem databases, and SaaS platforms into Snowflake.
• Perform data profiling, mapping, transformation logic design, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with application teams to migrate reporting, dashboards, and downstream integrations.
Analytics & Consulting Enablement
• Partner with analytics, reporting, and consulting teams to ensure Snowflake structures align with business, financial, operational, and client-facing use cases.
• Support downstream tools (e.g., BI platforms, reporting frameworks, data science workflows).
• Translate client and internal requirements into scalable, well-documented data solutions.
Governance, Security & Operations
• Implement data governance, auditability, and compliance controls appropriate for regulated and enterprise clients.
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures, and continuously improve reliability.
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices for the data engineering practice.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including:
• Security, roles, and data sharing
• Data modeling and performance tuning
• Warehouses, clustering, and cost optimization
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data development roles.
• Strong experience with Matillion ETL for Snowflake.
• Proven experience migrating enterprise-scale data and applications to cloud data platforms.
• Proficiency in SQL; experience with Python or other scripting languages preferred.
• Experience integrating data from relational databases, SaaS platforms, APIs, and flat files.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ELT patterns, and analytics enablement.
• Ability to work in client-facing or consulting environments with shifting priorities.
