Role description
Location: Remote - EDT/EST (US eastern time zone)
Duration: 6 months + extensions/conversion to full time
Requirements:
• 5-7+ years in data science with hands-on experience building and enhancing ML models
• Strong expertise in statistical / gap analysis, hypothesis testing, and model evaluation
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience leveraging AI coding assistants (Claude Code preferred)
• Experience working with data pipelines and large structured datasets
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Healthcare domain experience (nice to have, not required)
• Experience working in GCP / BigQuery environments
Overview
A Fortune 10 healthcare customer is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to enhance and optimize an existing data pipeline focused on identifying high-quality healthcare providers across large populations. This role is heavily focused on statistical evaluation, identifying gaps in existing models, and improving accuracy and reliability in decision-making systems. This is an ideal opportunity for a data scientist who thrives in ambiguous environments, can independently diagnose issues within models, and drive meaningful improvements.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate and improve existing machine learning models used to identify high-quality providers
• Perform deep statistical analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and model breakdowns
• Enhance model performance through robust statistical methodologies and validation techniques
• Work with large-scale healthcare/claims datasets to derive actionable insights
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve business-critical problems
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) while validating outputs and ensuring accuracy
• Build and refine data pipelines to support modeling and analytics workflows
Compensation: $60-70/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
