Title: Senior Data Scientist Location: Rockville, Maryland Target Start Date: ASAP Type: contract Pay Rate: DOE We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to drive data-driven insights that inform strategic business decisions. This role blends advanced analytics, machine learning, and strong communication skills to deliver end-to-end analytical solutions in close partnership with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly analytical, and comfortable leading complex initiatives from problem definition through production deployment. Key ResponsibilitiesData Science & Machine Learning • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to solve complex business problems. • Apply statistical methods and experimental design to validate findings and ensure data quality and integrity. • Explore and implement generative AI solutions to enhance analytical capabilities and business processes. • Drive end-to-end data science projects from ideation through implementation and optimization. Analytics & Visualization • Create advanced, interactive dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights to diverse audiences. • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders. • Identify innovative ways to measure impact and track model and solution performance. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into scalable analytical solutions. • Lead stakeholder engagement, clearly explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences. • Influence decision-making through data-driven storytelling and insights. Cloud & Production Deployment • Deploy, monitor, and maintain models in cloud-based environments. • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure production solutions. • Apply best practices for model lifecycle management and ongoing performance monitoring. Leadership & Mentorship • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth and maturity of the data science practice. • Promote best practices in analytics, modeling, and documentation across the team. Required Qualifications • Python: Expert-level proficiency for data analysis, modeling, and automation. • Data Processing: Strong experience with pandas and PySpark for large-scale data processing. • SQL: Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. • Statistics: Strong foundation in statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. • Machine Learning: Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying models in production. • Data Visualization: Proficiency with Plotly and Plotly Dash for production-grade, interactive visualizations. • Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP for data processing and model deployment. • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage relationships and drive alignment across teams. • Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related); advanced degree preferred. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with generative AI, including large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering. • Experience with graph databases, graph analytics, and network-based algorithms. • Background in financial services or other regulated industries. • Familiarity with MLOps, model monitoring, and production governance best practices.
