Role: Sr. GCP Engineer
Location: Camden, NJ (Hybrid β 2-3 days week from office)
Duration: 12 months
The Senior GCP Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role requires expertise in architecting scalable, secure, and cost-optimized solutions, as well as mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Implementation
β’ Design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade cloud solutions on GCP.
β’ Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Deployment Manager, or Ansible.
β’ Configure and manage core GCP services including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and Cloud SQL.
Operations & Automation
β’ Develop CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI for application and infrastructure deployment.
β’ Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
β’ Manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes (GKE) and Docker.
Security & Compliance
β’ Implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, service accounts, and role-based access controls.
β’ Apply best practices for securing GCP resources, networks, and data.
β’ Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
Monitoring & Optimization
β’ Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Stackdriver.
β’ Perform cost optimization and resource utilization reviews.
β’ Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and incidents in cloud infrastructure.
Collaboration & Mentoring
β’ Work closely with developers, DevOps, security, and data teams to deliver cloud-based solutions.
β’ Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on GCP best practices.
β’ Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning.
Required Skills & Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with at least 3+ years on GCP.
β’ Strong knowledge of GCP architecture, networking, and managed services.
β’ Proficiency with Terraform, Python, or Bash scripting.
β’ Experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and container orchestration.
β’ Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
