Client has a Senior DBA Position to join our OT DBA team in downtown Minneapolis, MN. The Senior Database Administrators primarily supports the database environments for OT Energy Services which includes Distribution, Transmission and Nuclear business areas and other regulated application databases. The Senior Database Administrator partners with application support teams on projects of all sizes and durations. The Database Administrator serves as diagnostician and solution provider for data, information and business process-related analysis. They are responsible for providing technical expertise in specific data domains and incorporating data governance into daily activities. They provide expertise in the integration of data, insights and trends and solution recommendations. They enable data driven decisions for their respective domain. They partner with other analysts to extract, interpret, and perform advanced analytics. Project Overview: The Database Administrator II will support the Operational Technology (OT) side of client , including SCADA and nuclear systems. Responsibilities include managing and supporting multiple database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB), performing performance tuning, patching, database builds, backup and recovery, and scripting for automation. Typical Day: • Participate in on-call rotation (every 4 weeks, 7-day coverage). • - Monitor DBA helpdesk and address proactive/reactive alerts. • - Collaborate with internal teams and support ongoing projects (e.g., ADMS upgrade). • - Use ServiceNow to manage and fulfill requests. • - Daily tasks include checking emails, resolving tickets, and supporting project needs. Top 3–5 Required Skills: • Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB. • Performance tuning, patching, database builds. • Backup and recovery expertise. • Scripting experience: KornShell (Unix/Linux), PowerShell (Windows). • Experience with ServiceNow. Ideal Candidate Background: 5-7 years of hands-on DBA experience preferred. Experience in utility or SCADA environments is a strong plus. Preferred Companies: Utilities or companies with SCADA/database experience. Required Certifications: Microsoft or Oracle certifications (e.g., OCP) are preferred. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience with scripting and automation tools. Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in technology, Science, Business or related field, or 8 years of experience equivalent to the position. • Strong communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets. • Strong Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results. • Excellent problem solving, data governance acumen, and analytical skills. • Demonstrated experience with distributed computing, data visualization, data architecture and structure, statistical modeling, and predictive modeling. • Experience with machine learning. • Experience designing, developing and delivering reporting solutions and providing insight to business. • Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend BI solutions to fulfill business requirements. Preferred Requirements: • Strong technical knowledge of SQLServer database administration for SQLServer 2014,2016,2017, 2019 and 2022. • Strong technical knowledge of Oracle database administration for 12c,19c and 21c. • Experienced with SQLServer Integration Services i.e. SSIS package development and implementation, reporting services. • Experienced with Database replication technologies i.e. mirroring, log shipping, replication • Experienced with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), RAC and Data Guard technology. • Experienced with Oracle and SQLServer Major Version upgrade • Experienced with T-SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, PowerShell Scripting • Experienced with Windows/SQLServer Clustering and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster. • Experienced with managing PostgreSQL and MySQL Databases.
