-This role focuses on ensuring the security and reliability of server infrastructure through proactive vulnerability management and efficient server patching, leveraging the Brinqa platform.
-The SRE will play a critical role in identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities, as well as coordinating and executing server patching activities.
Skills and qualifications
β’ Strong understanding of vulnerability management principles and methodologies.
β’ Experience with vulnerability management tools and platforms, such as Brinqa and Qualys.
β’ Proficiency in server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and patching procedures.
β’ Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
β’ Managing and enhancing the vulnerability management program, including utilizing Brinqa for vulnerability aggregation, prioritization, and reporting.
β’ Planning, scheduling, and executing server patching activities (operating systems and third-party software), potentially leveraging automation and tools like Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM), and WSUS.
β’ Developing and maintaining automation scripts and programs to streamline patching operations, improve efficiency, and reduce mean time to patch.
β’ Familiarity with ITIL framework concepts.
β’ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Key responsibilities
β’ Identifying and analyzing vulnerabilities within server infrastructure, including operating systems, applications, and network devices, potentially using tools like Qualys.
β’ Collaborating with application owners and other teams to define and maintain patch maintenance windows.
β’ Investigating and resolving issues related to server patching and vulnerability remediation, including coordinating with other teams and escalating issues as necessary.
β’ Ensuring compliance with corporate security policies, industry standards, and regulations related to vulnerability management and patching.
β’ Generating reports on vulnerability status, remediation progress, and overall security posture using tools like Brinqa and Qualys.
β’ Staying up-to-date on the latest vulnerabilities, security threats, and patching best practices.
β’ Defining and assessing patching service levels and success rates.
