SSIS Engineer – Engineering & Maintenance Onsite as needed Dallas Fort Worth Area. About the Role We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a larger Impact Makers (IM) delivery team supporting a key client. This role focuses on engineering and maintenance of business-critical data platforms built on the SQL Server ecosystem. It is well suited for someone who enjoys understanding existing systems, building strong context, and taking thoughtful ownership over how data platforms operate and evolve. You will work as part of a collaborative IM team, partnering closely with the client’s Dallas/Plano-based stakeholders. Engagement Details Start: March 1, 2026 Initial duration: 3-4 months Strong likelihood of extension into a longer-term (1–2 year) engagement Preferred location: DFW metroplex (Plano, TX) Open to significant travel (4–5 days/week) for the first 2–3 months What You’ll Do Discovery & System Understanding · Take time to understand existing data platforms, including architecture, data flows, and dependencies · Build a clear picture of how data is modeled, processed, and consumed across the organization · Ask thoughtful technical and business questions to establish shared understanding · Translate what you learn into clear plans for stabilization and improvement Data Engineering & Relational Databases · Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages and SQL Server Agent jobs · Write and optimize SQL including stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions · Work confidently with relational data models, understanding how tables, keys, and relationships support reporting and analytics · Tune performance using indexes, statistics, execution plans, and query design · Support large datasets and frequently used tables with a focus on reliability and scalability Reliability & Ongoing Support · Help ensure data pipelines run predictably and consistently · Investigate and resolve data issues in a structured, calm manner · Reduce repeat issues through thoughtful, durable improvements · Balance short-term fixes with longer-term enhancements Agile Delivery & Engineering Practices · Work within an Agile delivery model, participating in planning and retrospectives · Use Git for version control and collaborate through structured release processes · Support smooth promotion of changes across environments (Dev → QA → UAT → Prod) · Take ownership of work from start to finish, with a focus on quality and follow-through Collaboration & Communication · Work directly with business and client stakeholders, including in-person collaboration with the Plano-based team · Explain data structures, dependencies, and impacts in clear, accessible language · Collaborate with analytics, application, infrastructure, and platform teams What We’re Looking For Must-Have · Strong experience with SQL Server (on-premise) · Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning · Hands-on experience with SSIS · Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling · Experience supporting production data systems · Comfortable learning existing systems and building context before making changes · Strong communication skills Nice to Have · Experience with SSAS · Working knowledge of Oracle / PL-SQL · Shell scripting for automation · Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) · Exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP · Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric · Experience with Power BI · Exposure to Snowflake · Familiarity with open orchestration tools such as Airflow · Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools Growth & Future Opportunities While the initial focus is understanding and strengthening an existing SQL Server–based platform, there is a clear opportunity to participate in future modernization efforts. As the platform stabilizes, you may: · Contribute to evolution toward Microsoft Fabric · Expand orchestration beyond SSIS using ADF or open orchestration tools · Participate in cloud discussions across Azure, AWS, or GCP · Work with modern analytics platforms such as Power BI · We value thoughtful evolution built on a strong understanding of what exists today.
