Location: Iselin, NJ Salary: $76.00 USD Hourly - $82.00 USD Hourly Description: Lead Cybersecurity Research Consultant (Contingent Worker) Location: Iselin, NJ About the Role In this contingent assignment, you will provide technical leadership on large-scale, complex software engineering and cybersecurity initiatives. You'll assess multifaceted technical challenges, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and guide strategic decision-making across projects with broad organizational impact. As the Lead Cybersecurity Research Consultant , you will be the senior subject matter expert for all security-related work within the team. You will drive research, define security frameworks, and ensure that AI-powered solutions meet rigorous cybersecurity standards. Responsibilities Cybersecurity Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority on cybersecurity, including threat modeling, secure architecture, risk evaluation, and compliance. Provide expert consultation on complex engineering problems involving ambiguous, cross-functional, or unprecedented factors. Security Research & Strategy: Lead research on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors, and convert findings into actionable security requirements for AI systems and engineering solutions. Develop and maintain data-driven security frameworks (e.g., risk scoring models such as the Cyber Risk Rubric) used to prioritize and triage risks. AI & Security Collaboration: Partner closely with the Lead AI/ML Engineer to design experiments, validate model behavior, and evaluate security accuracy and robustness. Ensure cybersecurity principles and best practices are integrated across AI model development, testing, and deployment. Cross-Functional Enablement: Act as the key liaison between the AI development team and the broader cybersecurity organization, ensuring alignment with policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations. Mentor engineers and team members to elevate overall security expertise and build a strong security-aware culture. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of software engineering experience , or equivalent experience gained through industry work, consulting, military service, technical training, or education.
