Role description
Staff Data Scientist (Supply Chain Forecasting) – Contract – Outside IR35 – Remote (UK) OB are currently partnered with a business operating a large-scale, global supply chain, investing in data and AI to improve how products move across regions. They’re focused on building forecasting systems that directly impact availability, efficiency, and cost. Data science sits at the core of decision making, with strong alignment across engineering, logistics, and commercial teams. Role Lead the design and build of advanced demand forecasting systems, from modelling through to deployment. Responsibilities • Design and deliver scalable forecasting models for global supply chains • Apply advanced approaches including time series foundation models and hierarchical forecasting • Solve cold start problems for new and seasonal products • Build end-to-end pipelines and production-ready ML systems • Partner with business teams to embed forecasts into operational workflows Requirements • Strong background in demand forecasting within supply chain or retail • Proven experience building production ML systems end-to-end • Advanced Python and SQL • Experience with modern forecasting techniques beyond classical models • Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments • You hold a Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics) and stay at the forefront of AI research.
