Role description
Job Title: Statistical Programming Analyst Location: Columbia, SC Contract duration: 6 month contract with potential for extension or conversion Job Summary We are seeking a Statistical Programming Analyst to join our Medicare Statistical Analysis Department (MSAD), supporting reporting and analysis of Medicare Part A/B and RRB claims data. In this role, you will use SAS, SQL, and Python to ensure data integrity, perform statistical analyses, and create accurate, insightful reports for both routine and ad hoc requests. The ideal candidate has a strong background in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or computer science, along with excellent communication and documentation skills to clearly explain data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities • Assist the data warehouse with their table loads by ensuring the data is complete and accurate. • Run all standard/routine processes against the updated data and deliver those reports. • Create ad hoc reports and work directly with customers to ensure the information they receive is relevant and accurate to the request. • Program to create useful and insightful reporting. • Handle mathematical computations using programming languages. • Create clear and detailed written documentation around the reports being delivered. • Quickly adapt to new environments and ways of working as CMS changes programming languages and other systems frequently. • Communicate effectively with external vendors and, as needed, directly with CMS, including non-technical audiences. • Be self-motivated, confident, and willing to hop onto challenging problems sometimes with little direction. Requirements Required Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree Statistics/Biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, or other job related field. Required Work Experience: 4 years statistical programming or statistical interpretation. Required Software: Microsoft Office Soft Skills: Strong communication skills Nice To Have: Preferred Work Experience: 5 years experience with statistical practices. 5 years statistical software and relational database experience.
