Location: New York State (Telecommuting may be allowed at the discretion of the hiring manager) Note: The Department does not provide parking; the office is accessible by mass transit.
Minimum Candidate Qualifications
The candidate must meet the following requirements:
Experience:
At least 5 years in data governance.
At least 5 years compiling and computing data using statistical formulas for data analytics and/or statistical studies.
At least 1 year working with Virtual Currency or Cryptocurrency.
Education: Bachelorβs Degree.
Other: Proof of eligibility to work in New York State.
Job Description & Responsibilities
The Statistical Assistant will play a key role in supporting data governance and analytics initiatives within the Research & Innovation Division. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze and validate financial call report and capitalization data across multiple functional groups.
Maintain and monitor data warehousing workflows, ensuring data quality and preparing reports for DFSβs virtual currency transaction monitoring program.
Assist the Data Steward in data governance activities, including data quality checks, cataloging, and metadata management.
Coordinate with data team stakeholders to collect work items and prepare reports and presentations.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Research & Innovation and Technology Divisions to advance projects and initiatives.
Conduct data analysis, document data definitions, and prepare business requirements.
Compile and compute data for statistical studies; perform model calculations and create charts/graphs for internal use.
Work with complex datasets to identify issues, recommend solutions, and apply analytical/statistical approaches.
Automate manual processes and reporting using technical expertise.
Partner with business users and analysts to develop analytical strategies for project implementation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong proficiency in data analysis and data visualization.
Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, macros).
Expertise in relational database management systems, SQL, Python, and SnowSQL.
Experience with GitHub for version control and project management.
Familiarity with data quality and cataloging platforms (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation).
Knowledge of modern cloud technologies (e.g., Salesforce, Snowflake).
Ability to develop metrics, reports, and presentations.
Skilled at translating complex business requirements into technical specifications.
Highly motivated, able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Strong multitasking ability while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Adaptable and communicative; thrives in dynamic environments and effectively engages technical stakeholders.
