We are looking for a Statistician to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.
Your expertise in statistical modeling, inference, probability, experimental design, and data interpretation will ensure each prompt and response is analytically rigorous and educationally sound. We welcome statisticians from academic, governmental, healthcare, or industry backgrounds to help create training materials that reflect real-world data challenges and methodology. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your statistical judgment to shape how advanced AI models interpret and generate quantitative insights.
You are a good fit if you:
• Have over 3+ years of industry or academic experience applying statistics in real world scenario.
• Have a bachelor's degree in statistics, applied mathematics, or related field.
• Have a strong background in one of the following -
• Descriptive and inferential statistics
• Hypothesis testing and confidence intervals
• Linear and generalized linear models
• Survey sampling and experimental design
• Multivariate analysis, Bayesian inference, or survival analysis
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Have strong attention to details
Preferred Qualification
• Proficiency in R, Python, or SAS is highly encouraged
• Experience with real world datasets is a plus
Role Highlights
• Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.

Role Start Date
• This role will begin in early to mid-July with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Interview Process
• You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in statistics.
• You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a hardware statistical topic.
• You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate.
• Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and on the accuracy and quality of their evaluations.
Compensation and Legal Details
• You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
