Summary:
The Tableau Administration function directly supports short-term operational goals by ensuring uninterrupted access to enterprise reporting and analytics. This enables business units to make timely, data-driven decisions for operational efficiency and compliance. In the long term, this function aligns with the strategic vision of becoming a data-driven organization by maintaining a robust, scalable, and secure analytics platform that supports advanced analytics and self-service BI capabilities across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Maintain Tableau Server and site configurations, including user permissions, groups, projects, and data sources.
β’ Monitor server performance and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance of the system.
β’ Design, develop, and implement processes and workflows for administering Tableau Server.
β’ Stay up to date on new features and functionality in Tableau Server and make recommendations on how to leverage them to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
β’ Train and support users on proper usage of Tableau Server, including best practices for security, data governance, and data management.
β’ Perform regular maintenance and upgrades of Tableau Server as needed.
β’ Manage user access to Tableau Server, including creating and managing user accounts, groups, and permissions.
β’ Configure and manage Tableau Server security, including SSL certificates, LDAP integration, and Active Directory synchronization.
β’ Monitor server logs and performance metrics to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
β’ Collaborate with IT staff to ensure proper integration of Tableau Server with other enterprise systems.
β’ Maintain Tableau Server and Desktop license management.
β’ Primary technical point of contact for Tableau environment administration, including server-related incidents and service request tickets.
β’ Understand network requirements for the Tableau cluster to provide a common graphical interface portal and troubleshoot basic network issues in a Windows server environment.
β’ Work with Tableau vendor support teams on cluster issues, escalations, requirements, health checks, and upgrades.
β’ Monitor the performance of the server through developing Custom Administrative Dashboards.
β’ Design and Maintenance of Internal Website to display embedded Tableau Dashboards.
β’ Optimize and troubleshoot Tableau dashboards for performance.
β’ Design and Development of new Tableau dashboards per business needs.
β’ Monitor Tableau scheduled background tasks and respond to any service failures.
β’ Data preparation, data extract/live data source validation, and maintenance using other Data Analysis tools.
