Tableau Administrator

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Tableau Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Tableau environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Tableau Server/Tableau Cloud administration, user access management, security configuration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and supporting BI/reporting teams. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Tableau administration, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work closely with business users, BI developers, and technical teams. Key Responsibilities • Administer and maintain Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud environments. • Manage users, groups, roles, permissions, and access controls. • Configure and maintain security policies, authentication, and authorization settings. • Monitor Tableau server performance, usage, availability, and system health. • Perform Tableau upgrades, patches, migrations, backups, and recovery activities. • Troubleshoot issues related to dashboards, extracts, subscriptions, permissions, data refreshes, and server performance. • Configure authentication methods such as SSO, Active Directory, LDAP, and SAML. • Support dashboard publishing, deployment, and promotion across environments. • Optimize Tableau workbooks, extracts, schedules, and server performance. • Collaborate with BI developers, business users, database teams, and infrastructure teams. • Maintain Tableau governance standards, documentation, and best practices. • Support automation, scheduling, and monitoring of data refresh processes. • Work on tickets and incidents using tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms. Required Skills • Strong hands-on experience in Tableau Server Administration. • Experience with Tableau Cloud and Tableau Desktop. • Good understanding of Tableau user management, permissions, site roles, and security. • Experience with server monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server environments. • Understanding of SQL, databases, and data warehousing concepts. • Experience supporting Tableau extracts, subscriptions, refresh schedules, and published data sources. • Familiarity with authentication methods such as SSO, SAML, LDAP, or Active Directory. • Good communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills • Tableau certification is preferred. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting. • Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, or other ticketing tools. • Exposure to BI governance, platform automation, and enterprise reporting environments. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience • 5+ years of overall IT/BI experience. • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Tableau Administrator or Tableau Server Administrator.
