Role description
Job#: 3031316 Job Description: Tech Business Analyst (Product Owner) Location: Columbus, Ohio (Onsite) Employment Type: 12+ month Contract Role Overview We are seeking a Tech business analyst who will operate with a product owner mindset. This role is a critical decision-maker in how work is evaluated, prioritized, and delivered. The position will also drive key activities associated with migrating from a custom in-house platform to a cloud-based SaaS environment. This is not a traditional business analyst role; it is designed for an individual who can challenge assumptions, lead platform transformation, and accelerate delivery outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Act as a functional product owner, owning the evaluation and prioritization of incoming enhancement requests. • Serve as the primary escalation point for business stakeholders, providing direction on feasibility, scope clarity, and business value. • Evaluate enhancement requests for technical feasibility, platform impact, and business value. • Partner with the PMO, business, and technical teams to align processes, workflows, and system capabilities with target state models. • Drive consistent improvement in the development lifecycle, focusing on increasing velocity, throughput, and delivery predictability. • Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end retail energy platform, including cross-functional dependencies. • Drive alignment across Business, Technology, QA, Operations, and external development partners. • Proactively identify risks, gaps, and opportunities and work with the PMO team to ensure they are addressed. Required Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Product Ownership, or related roles within a technology-driven environment is required. Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) is also necessary. Preferred Qualifications • Experience acting in a Product Owner capacity. • Experience with or supporting large-scale platform transformations. • A background in retail energy, utilities, or complex B2B platforms. • Demonstrated success in driving platform improvements and cross-functional initiatives. • Experience improving delivery performance, reducing cycle time, or increasing throughput. Work Environment There is a potential for bi-weekly after-hours work to support deployments. Travel outside Ohio is not expected. Strong communication skills are a focus for this role.
