Role description
Role: Telephony Automation & VoIP Platform Engineer
Location: Mountain View CA ( 5 days Onsite)
Job Type: Contract
We are seeking a Telephony Automation & VoIP Platform Engineer to support large-scale voice platform operations and migrations in a telecom/ISP environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining VoIP, device provisioning, cloud automation, API validation, and data analysis. The engineer will act as a platform owner, working across systems rather than in a siloed QA or automation-only role.
Key Responsibilities
VoIP Platform & Device Management
β’ Manage and support VoIP platform Qualification, such as registration / monitoring / calling / billing capabilities
β’ Configure, provision, and maintain ATA devices, specifically Polycom ATA 400.
β’ Perform remote device provisioning and lifecycle management using TR-069.
β’ Troubleshoot SIP signaling, TLS security, and voice traffic issues.
Large-Scale Migrations & Validation
β’ Lead and support large-scale customer migrations (tens of thousands of users) from legacy voice platforms to modern VoIP stacks.
β’ Validate end-to-end provisioning, peering, and service operability post-migration.
β’ Perform pre- and post-migration data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Automation & Scripting
β’ Develop scripts (primarily Python) to automate:
β’ Sequences of REST API calls
β’ Validation workflows
β’ Error detection and reporting
β’ Support automation for testing, provisioning validation, and operational checks.
β’ Work in Linux environments to support scripts and system operations.
API & Integration Work
β’ Validate data exchanged between vendor-provided devices, vendor APIs, and internal systems.
β’ Use REST APIs and tools such as Postman to test, validate, and debug integrations.
β’ Create or support APIs for internal system consumption of validated data.
Data Analysis & Troubleshooting
β’ Write SQL queries for data collection, analysis, and reconciliation. Experience with BigQuery and Looker studio prefferred
β’ Use Wireshark / packet capture tools to troubleshoot TCP/IP, SIP, and TLS issues.
β’ Collaborate with vendors, engineering teams, and operations teams to resolve issues.
