Role description
About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead with strong backend and integration expertise, plus architectural responsibilities, to join our Supply Chain & Services Portal program. This is not an “ivory tower” architect role - you’ll be writing code, unblocking developers, driving design reviews, and owning releases. The ideal candidate has deep experience building scalable backend systems, API-first integrations, and supply chain/service portal applications, with working knowledge of ERP (SAP or Oracle) flows. You’ll guide both Node/NestJS and Java-based tracks, ensuring reliable, secure, and performant solutions for a high-impact program in the automotive/manufacturing sector. Key Responsibilities • Lead backend & integration design with API-first principles and event-driven architecture. • Write production-grade code in Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS familiarity is a plus) and/or Java (Spring Boot, Microservices). • Define and enforce best practices across error handling, retries/DLQs, RBAC/ABAC, observability, performance, and security. • Oversee AWS serverless solutions (Lambdas, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, API Gateway) and CI/CD pipelines. • Collaborate on Workato orchestration (error handling, rollbacks, monitoring) to replace point-to-point integrations. • Bring ERP + EDI literacy (SAP or Oracle): • Understand supply chain transactions (e.g., 850/855/856/810 flows, costing updates). • Support cutover planning, validations, and data integrity. • Provide oversight for frontend teams: ensure React/TypeScript patterns, micro-frontend contracts, authentication flows, and resilience. • Partner with cross-functional teams (product, ERP, infra, frontend) to deliver end-to-end solutions. • Mentor developers, unblock technical challenges, and ensure timely, quality releases. • Stay current with emerging backend/integration practices and help shape technical strategy. Required Qualifications • 12+ years of software development experience with strong backend depth. • Proven experience as a Tech Lead, balancing hands-on coding with architecture responsibilities. • Expertise in Node.js (TypeScript) and/or Java (Spring Boot, Microservices). • Strong knowledge of API-first design, integrations, and event-driven systems. • Hands-on experience with AWS serverless services and modern CI/CD pipelines. • Experience with ERP integrations (SAP or Oracle) and EDI transaction flows. • Familiarity with frontend architecture in React/TypeScript (micro-frontends, auth, contracts). • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in supply chain management or service portals. • Exposure to Workato or similar integration/orchestration platforms. • Background in automotive, logistics, or manufacturing domains. • Knowledge of Kafka, schema registries, and idempotent pipelines. • Relevant certifications (AWS, Java, ERP, architecture).
