Role description
I'm looking for a Technical Analyst for a contract role for Meta!
This is a 12 month contract opportunity
About the Team
β’ Global Response Operations (GRO) Protect is Meta's frontline defense against integrity threats across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp. We detect, investigate, and enforce against harmful content from hate speech and scams to coordinated inauthentic behavior and dangerous organizations. Our team combines operational expertise with technical tooling to protect billions of users at scale.
β’ We are looking for Technical Analysts to join our Protect team and help scale our enforcement capabilities. You will work with detection pipelines, data analysis tools, and AI-powered platforms to monitor content trends, validate enforcement accuracy, and support investigations. This role is ideal for someone who is technically capable (comfortable with SQL and data tools), detail-oriented, and motivated by the mission of making the internet safer.
Responsibilities
β’ Monitor and maintain detection pipelines that identify harmful content across Meta's platforms, including running precision checks, reviewing match results, and flagging anomalies
β’ Execute structured data queries using SQL-based tools to track enforcement volumes, identify content trends, and prepare operational reports
β’ Conduct fan-out investigations by mapping related entities (accounts, pages, content) from cases using internal discovery tools, and -reviewing assets against documented enforcement criteria
β’ Validate automated classifier outputs by reviewing content samples flagged by AI models, assessing accuracy, and documenting findings for pipeline tuning
β’ Support recurring operational reporting by pulling and formatting data for weekly business reviews, enforcement trackers, and case summaries
β’ Monitor automated workflow health and flag failures or degradation in pipeline performance for engineering follow-up
β’ Collaborate with FTE analysts and investigators to support high-priority escalations and time-sensitive enforcement actions
β’ This role may involve exposure to potentially graphic and/or objectionable content including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other potentially objectionable material. i.e. child exploitation, graphic violence, animal abuse, self-injury and other content which may be considered offensive or disturbing.
Minimum Qualifications
β’ 2+ years of experience in data analysis, trust and safety operations, content moderation operations, or a related technical operations role
β’ Proficiency in SQL, able to write and modify queries independently to extract, filter, and aggregate data from large datasets
β’ Experience working with dashboards, data visualization tools, rule engines, or business intelligence platforms
β’ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes consistently across high volumes of work
β’ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
β’ Comfort working with potentially sensitive or disturbing content, including hate speech, graphic imagery, and other integrity violations
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience in trust and safety, content integrity, fraud investigation, or cybersecurity operations
β’ Familiarity with Python for data manipulation or scripting (pandas, basic automation)
β’ Experience with AI/ML-assisted tooling or working alongside automated detection systems
β’ Familiarity with social media platforms and how content policies are enforced
β’ Prior experience as a contractor or vendor at a large technology company
β’ Experience with OSINT (open source intelligence) techniques or investigative research methodologies
About This Role
β’ This is a Full-Time Contractor position based onsite at Meta's Austin, TX office, and Metaβs office Singapore
β’ Standard business hours with potential for occasional extended hours during high-priority incidents
β’ This role involves regular exposure to graphic and/or objectionable content including but not limited to: hateful or extremist content, graphic violence, and other material which may be considered offensive or disturbing. Comprehensive wellness support is provided
β’ Background check required
β’ This role does not require software engineering or code deployment. It is an operational analytics role that uses existing tools and platforms
