Role description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Technical Business Analyst / Operations SME to join a Credit Operations Technology team supporting a leading alternative investment firm. This individual will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, partnering closely with Credit Operations to understand complex business processes and translate them into scalable technology solutions.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of Credit Operations, investment operations workflows, and financial systems, along with strong business analysis, project coordination, and solution delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis
• Develop a deep understanding of Credit Operations processes, workflows, data, and supporting technology platforms.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements.
• Translate business needs into detailed user stories, functional specifications, and technical requirements within Agile and hybrid delivery environments.
• Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirements prioritization.
• Analyze large datasets, review existing database objects and stored procedures, and assist with data migration planning, testing, and validation.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business users, development teams, QA, and infrastructure teams.
• Support and enhance core operations applications by troubleshooting issues and coordinating software enhancements with internal teams and third-party vendors.
• Monitor data quality, identify issues, and recommend remediation strategies.
• Present technical concepts and data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions.
Project Coordination & Delivery
• Coordinate multiple technology initiatives from planning through implementation while ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
• Develop project plans, manage dependencies, track milestones, and proactively identify project risks.
• Prepare project status updates, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Facilitate communication across business users, technology teams, leadership, vendors, and external partners.
• Manage work items within Azure Boards (or similar Agile tools) and participate in daily stand-ups and project meetings.
• Act as the primary point of contact across application development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, workflows, and system functionality.
• Build strong partnerships across business and technology organizations.
• Promote best practices in business analysis, project execution, and solution delivery.
Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Operations Technology Analyst within a hedge fund, private equity firm, asset manager, or other financial services organization.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and business analysis best practices.
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver enterprise technology solutions.
Preferred Domain Expertise
• Strong understanding of alternative investments, including private credit, hedge funds, structured products, syndicated loans, or derivatives.
• Experience supporting investment operations, portfolio accounting, or Credit Operations functions.
• Familiarity with operational workflows including:
• Portfolio setup
• Trade booking and allocations
• Expense booking
• Cash reconciliation
• Month-end close
• Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) or Scrum Master certification is a plus.
Technical Skills
• Advanced SQL skills with experience querying and analyzing large datasets.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, transformation, and migration activities.
• Familiarity with Power BI or other reporting and visualization tools is preferred.
• Experience with investment operations platforms such as WSO, Geneva, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of integrations with fund administrators, compliance platforms, and market data providers.
• Proficiency with Visio, Lucidchart, or similar process-mapping tools.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
