Technical Business Analyst

Title: IT Systems Analyst Location: Owatonna, MN Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Compensation: $48.00 - $65.00 per hour (W2) Industry: Insurance About The Role Our client, a long-established organization in the property and casualty insurance industry, is seeking an experienced IT Systems Analyst to support complex technology initiatives across the enterprise. This role is ideal for someone who excels at understanding business needs, translating them into clear technical requirements, and ensuring solutions are designed and delivered to achieve organizational goals. The position requires strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to challenge ideas constructively while driving clarity and alignment. This is an in-person role based in Owatonna, MN; due to the collaborative and fast-paced environment, remote or hybrid options are not available. Job Description In this role, you will lead business and system analysis efforts, partner closely with technical and business teams, and ensure solutions meet both functional and architectural standards. You will support the full lifecycle of system enhancements by eliciting requirements, collaborating on solution design, supporting development, and validating functionality through testing. You will also contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuously analyze processes and workflows to identify improvement opportunities. Key Responsibilities Include Analysis & Requirements • Lead elicitation, documentation, and validation of business and system requirements. • Translate business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements. Solution Design & Technical Collaboration • Partner with architects, developers, project managers, and business SMEs to design scalable solutions. • Participate in technical design reviews and challenge assumptions to ensure alignment with requirements and architectural standards. Testing & Quality Assurance • Ensure user stories are development-ready and validated through testing. • Develop test scenarios and test cases to confirm requirement and solution accuracy. Collaboration & Communication • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and IS teams. • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Development • Analyze complex systems and workflows to identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities. • Seek ongoing process, system, and collaboration improvements. • Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies. Qualifications Required • 5+ years of technical business analysis experience supporting complex technology projects. • Strong understanding of system design, technical architecture, and software development lifecycle concepts. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management abilities. Preferred • Experience in the insurance industry is beneficial but not required.
