Technical Business Analyst (Data)
Location: Hybrid (3 days per week in Denver office)

Overview
Join a global Investment Data Strategy & Solutions team supporting front-, middle-, and back-office investment operations. The role involves working closely with portfolio managers, traders, and research analysts to analyse, document, and improve data workflows and user-developed applications.
You'll be responsible for understanding existing Python and VBA-based tools, identifying data sources, and proposing strategic solutions to standardise and de-risk processes using enterprise platforms (OMS, S&P EDM, Eagle, FactSet, etc.).
This position offers exposure to cutting-edge AI initiatives, a highly collaborative international environment, and the opportunity to influence how data is leveraged across 60+ investment desks globally.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct workshops and interviews with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to gather and analyse business requirements.
• Identify and document investment data attributes, data lineage, and process impacts.
• Analyse Python/VBA user applications and pipelines; identify improvement opportunities.
• Produce functional requirements documents and Jira tickets outlining current and target states.
• Partner with technology teams to ensure delivery of required system changes, testing, and sign-off.
• Collaborate with central data management and architecture teams to ensure alignment across platforms.
• Create repeatable testing frameworks to validate data and process changes.
• Communicate regularly with stakeholders across business, technology, and data teams.
• Support the integration of emerging technologies, including AI-based solutions, into data workflows.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in financial services, ideally within asset management, investment banking, or wealth management.
• Strong understanding of front-, middle-, and back-office investment operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of equities, fixed income, derivatives, fund management, or client reporting.
• Hands-on experience with an Order Management System (OMS) (e.g., BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River).
• Working knowledge of Python, VBA, and SQL.
• Proven ability to write and implement business requirements, process maps, and user stories.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.).
• Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented approach with a focus on delivery.
Preferred Skills
• 3+ years of hands-on Python, SQL, and VBA development experience.
• Prior experience creating AI utilities (e.g., multi-agent LLMs).
• Experience mentoring junior analysts or team members.
• Familiarity with S&P EDM (CADIS), Eagle, FactSet, Port, or other enterprise data tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience using Jira.
• CFA candidate or relevant certification preferred.
Soft Skills
