Role description
The Technical Business Analyst captures and documents requirements from architects and product managers to support technology solutions that drive business success. The role collaborates with data teams, AWS services, and emerging technologies to deliver high-quality deliverables. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, product managers, architects, and engineering teams. • Gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements for enterprise data, analytics, and cloud platform initiatives. • Translate business requirements into detailed Epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation. • Own the lifecycle of work items from intake through delivery, ensuring requirements are complete, prioritized, and engineering-ready. • Partner with business teams to understand operational processes, reporting needs, and data requirements within the wealth management and retirement services domain. • Collaborate with architects and engineers to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly requirements. • Analyze data, review database structures, and validate business logic to support solution design and testing. • Research technical questions involving databases, APIs, data pipelines, and system integrations. • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and release activities. • Maintain high-quality documentation in Jira and Confluence while continuously improving team knowledge assets. • Collaborate effectively with distributed teams across the U.S. and India. Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst supporting software, data, or cloud technology initiatives. • Experience serving as the liaison between business stakeholders and software engineering teams. • Experience working with enterprise data platforms, analytics initiatives, or data warehousing projects. • Strong understanding of SQL and relational database concepts, with the ability to analyze data and validate business requirements. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. • Strong experience managing work in Jira, including Epics, user stories, workflows, and backlog refinement. • Experience creating technical documentation using Confluence or similar collaboration tools. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Preferred Skills: • Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks. • Familiarity with modern data engineering and analytics tools including dbt, Apache Airflow, and Git. • Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics ecosystems. • Experience working with APIs and system integrations. • Exposure to AWS cloud services and cloud-native technologies. • Familiarity with reporting and observability tools such as Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Splunk, Kafka, Amazon EKS, or Redshift. • Previous hands-on software development or programming experience is a plus.
