Role description
Role Title: Business Analyst (Technical & Data-Focused) Location: Manchester, Edinburgh, London, United Kingdom (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite per week) Employment Type: Contract ROLE OVERVIEW: We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong technical and data analytics expertise to support digital transformation and data-driven decision-making initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working in cross-functional teams, bridging the gap between business stakeholders, technical teams, and data professionals. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements, defining functional and non-functional specifications, interpreting complex datasets, and contributing to system and process improvements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize business and system requirements. Translate business needs into technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Perform data analysis, data validation, and data mapping to support migration, integration, and reporting projects. Work with development teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements and effective data flow between systems. Support data-driven decision-making through reporting, dashboards, and insights. Engage in process modelling and optimization, identifying areas for automation and efficiency gains. Conduct impact analysis and assist in UAT planning, execution, and defect tracking. Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, QA, and Product Owners in Agile environments. Contribute to documentation, business process models, and workflow diagrams. TECHNICAL & DATA SKILLS: Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and data validation. Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools. Working knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation (desirable). Experience with data warehousing, data migration, or ETL processes. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Understanding of APIs, integrations, and system architecture. Proficient in Agile/Scrum delivery tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
