Technical Business Analyst

Job Title: Technical Business Analyst Location: Remote (UK) Contract Length: 6 Months IR35: Outside Interview Process: 1 Stage, MS Teams We are supporting a large enterprise technology programme in hiring a Technical Business Analyst to support the delivery of API, front-end and integration-focused software change. This role sits within an agile software engineering environment, working closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Scrum Masters and development teams. The successful candidate will take high-level business and technical requirements, support low-level design activity, and translate requirements into clear, build-ready user stories for engineering teams. This role suits a technically fluent Business Analyst with strong experience across RESTful APIs, agile delivery, backlog readiness, user story creation and technical documentation within enterprise software delivery environments. Key Responsibilities • Analyse business requirements, process maps, data dictionaries and high-level technical design documentation • Review and interpret technical artefacts such as interoperability matrices, sequence diagrams and solution designs • Plan and lead low-level design activity in collaboration with Business Analysts, Solution Architects and developers • Design and document API build requirements, including inputs, outputs, business logic, error codes and metadata • Design and document front-end build requirements, including screens, components, permissions and user interactions • Create clear, delivery-ready user stories in Jira for development teams • Work with Scrum Masters and engineering teams to ensure backlog availability for upcoming sprint cycles • Support build and test teams during delivery, clarifying requirements and resolving implementation queries • Own and manage changes to user stories or requirements where needed during delivery • Produce clear technical documentation to support build, test and future maintenance activity • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and delivery needs Essential Skills • Strong experience working as a Technical Business Analyst within enterprise software engineering teams • Experience working in agile environments, supporting just-in-time backlog readiness for build teams • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex requirements into clear delivery outputs • Excellent technical fluency, particularly across RESTful APIs and integration-focused delivery • Ability to drive low-level design sessions and take handover from Solution Architects • Experience creating user stories that are ready for development teams to build from • Experience planning backlog availability with Scrum Masters and providing delivery estimates • Strong experience using Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Office tools • Ability to support developers and testers during build and test phases • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills • Ability to work independently and manage short-deadlines or unplanned workloads • Ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Desirable Skills • Experience within pensions, financial services or similarly regulated domains • Experience working with RESTful JSON APIs • Experience working with XML APIs • Exposure to single-page applications, ideally ReactJS • Exposure to Azure services such as Blob Storage, Azure AD B2C or Service Bus • Understanding of microservice and backend-for-frontend architecture patterns • Exposure to PEGA, Red Hat Fuse or SCM Sapiens Consolidation Master • Experience working with customer-facing teams or external stakeholders
