Role description
Business Analyst
The Business Analyst will be embedded within business areas, working at the heart of projects designed to develop new processes, frameworks, and datasets that support the wider DSA metrics programme. These initiatives will directly enable DSA to begin reporting on new aspects of the business through accurate, accessible, and well-structured data insights.
Our Business Analysts will lead projects such as designing and implementing a technical debt framework, establishing a process for tracking non-mandatory training, and developing a system for measuring time spent on innovation β all underpinned by robust
Power BI reporting and dashboard solutions.
This position involves close collaboration with client category teams (Service Managers, Delivery Managers, Technical Architects, Resourcing, and Data Engineers) to understand business needs, identify data gaps, and design solutions that enable both data collection and insightful visualisation in Power BI. The analyst will facilitate process improvements, define data requirements, ensure alignment with business objectives, and deliver user-friendly dashboards that bring metrics to life for decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Deliver individual projects to embed necessary changes within DSA to enable data collection for different metrics.
β’ Define frameworks and processes to enable structured and accurate data capture.
β’ Implement process and system changes to support ongoing collection activities.
β’ Work with stakeholders to develop Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.
β’ Translate data requirements into clear specifications for Power BI solutions, ensuring accuracy, usability, and visual clarity.
β’ Collaborate with Data Engineers to design data models optimised for reporting.
β’ Support adoption of dashboards by providing guidance, training, and documentation for business users.
Skills & Experience Required
β’ Strong experience working with technical stakeholders within an organisation.
β’ Expertise in gathering and defining data requirements.
β’ Understanding of Service and Product delivery lifecycles.
β’ Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business-friendly terms.
β’ Agile delivery experience, including influencing ways of working, Sprint planning, and Jira backlog management.
β’ Naturally inquisitive, intelligent, and challenging β with strong consultative and client-facing skills.
β’ Technical awareness to collaborate effectively with Data Engineers and work with data products (even if not hands-on technical).
