Role description
Cricket Connect · Equity role · Global / Remote-friendly
About Cricket Connect
Cricket Connect is building the digital platform the global cricket ecosystem has been missing.
From grassroots to elite performance, from clubs to commercial partners, cricket remains fragmented across tools, data, and workflows. Cricket Connect exists to change that—by creating a connected, scalable, cricket-native platform that serves players, coaches, clubs, leagues, and partners in one coherent system.
The founder is a former international cricketer with deep domain knowledge and significant commercial experience across strategy, design, sales, and partnerships. What we’re missing is a true technical co-founder to own everything technical—from first principles to scale.
The Role
This is not a traditional CTO hire.
We are looking for a hands-on technical co-founder who can design, build, and own the entire technical side of Cricket Connect—initially as the primary (or sole) engineer, and later as the leader of a growing technical team.
You will be responsible for turning a clearly defined vision into a real, scalable product used by the global cricket community.
What You Will Do
Short term (0–12 months)
• Architect and build the core Cricket Connect platform end-to-end
• Own backend, frontend, infrastructure, data, and integrations
• Make pragmatic technology decisions focused on speed, learning, and real-world use
• Ship v1, v2, and v3 yourself (or with minimal support)
• Work closely with the founder on product definition and prioritisation
Medium term (12–24 months)
• Evolve the architecture for scale, performance, and extensibility
• Introduce analytics, data pipelines, and performance insights
• Begin hiring and leading engineers
• Establish engineering standards and technical roadmap
Long term
• Own the technical vision of Cricket Connect
• Build and lead a high-quality engineering organisation
• Ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, and defensible
Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
You should not apply unless most of the following describe you.
Founder Mindset
• You want to build a company, not just a product
• You are comfortable with ambiguity, ownership, and responsibility
• You are motivated by equity and long-term value creation, not just salary
• You think in terms of business impact, not just technical elegance
Hands-On Technical Ability
• Strong full-stack experience (frontend + backend)
• Proven ability to ship production systems yourself
• Experience with modern web stacks (e.g. React / Next.js / similar)
• Backend/API experience (Node.js, Python, or equivalent)
• Solid cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Comfortable owning infrastructure, deployments, and DevOps decisions
Architecture & Systems Thinking
• Experience designing scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platforms
• Ability to design clean, extensible data models
• Strong understanding of trade-offs: speed vs scalability, build vs buy
• Able to refactor and evolve systems without rewrites
Product & Data Sensitivity
• Strong product intuition and user empathy
• Comfortable working with structured and semi-structured data
• Able to think ahead about analytics, benchmarking, and insights
• Understands that data is only valuable in context
Communication & Collaboration
• Comfortable working closely with a non-technical founder
• Able to explain technical decisions clearly and honestly
• Willing to challenge ideas constructively
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
• Startup or previous founder experience
• Experience with sports, performance, or community platforms
• Exposure to payments, subscriptions, or marketplaces
What This Is Not
• Not a corporate CIO role
• Not a “manage other engineers” job from day one
• Not a consultancy or contract position
• Not a role for someone who doesn’t want to write code anymore
What We Offer
• True co-founder role with meaningful equity
• Opportunity to define and own the technical foundation of a global platform
• A founder partner with deep domain expertise and commercial leadership
• Freedom to make real decisions and build things properly
• The chance to impact the future of cricket at scale
How to Apply
If this sounds like you, send:
• A short note explaining why this role appeals to you
• Examples of products or platforms you’ve built or owned
• Any founder or startup experience you’d like us to know about
📩 Apply via LinkedIn or message directly.
