Role description
Department: Operations

Description
Sumer is the fastest-growing accountancy practice in the UK, dedicated to championing small and medium businesses and helping communities prosper across the UK and Ireland.
As we scale, we’re investing heavily in group-wide transformation programmes across technology, data, and service line systems. These programmes are critical to how we work together as one group and how we support our firms to grow.
When you join Sumer, you're not just joining a firm - you're joining a forward thinking team with deep local roots and national backing that's reshaping professional services across the UK.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to play a key role in an accelerated programme of service line system migrations across Sumer.
Working closely with the Group IT Director and the Strategy & Integration Director you’ll support the analysis, planning and delivery of multiple migration initiatives across a complex group structure. Your focus will be on understanding how our businesses work today, defining what good looks like tomorrow, and helping to get us there with minimal disruption.
A key part of this role is navigating the realities of a growing group: balancing group-wide consistency with local ways of working, ensuring our regional hubs are listened to, and helping people understand and engage with change. You’ll act as a bridge between central teams and local practices, making sure change is practical, understood, and delivered in the right way.
This is a hands-on role with real visibility, where your work will directly support how our firms operate and collaborate.
This role is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract and remote with occasional travel to our hubs across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the planning and delivery of system migrations across the group
• Work with teams across local hubs and central functions to understand and confirm what they need from new systems
• Map current-state and future-state processes, identifying gaps, risks, and dependencies
• Produce clear, practical documentation such as business requirements, process maps, and impact assessments
• Work closely with IT teams and external suppliers to ensure solutions meet agreed needs
• Support data migration activities, including data mapping, validation, and reconciliation
• Assist with change impact assessments and support user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Track progress, risks, and issues, escalating where appropriate
• Ensure appropriate governance, controls, and documentation are maintained throughout delivery
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst delivering system or software change programmes
• Experience supporting system migrations or large-scale technology change initiatives
• Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills
• Experience working with senior stakeholders across a group structure
• Ability to manage ambiguity and navigate complex situations with sound judgement
• Understanding of data migration principles and system integrations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex processes and systems
• Ability to engage stakeholders with empathy, balancing business needs with the impact of change on teams
• Experience within professional services, financial services, or multi-entity organisations is advantageous
Job Benefits
At Sumer, we know everyone’s journey is different. That’s why we’re committed to fairness, removing barriers, and giving people the support they need to do their best work. If you need any support during the hiring process, just let us know.
Our values represent what matters most to us and guide how we work every day:
• We Shine Together
• We Do the Right Thing
• We Make It Count
We know diverse teams make us stronger. That’s why we’re creating an inclusive workplace where everyone belongs and differences are valued and celebrated.
