Technical Designer - AI Location: Hybrid in Cupertino, CA (onsite T-TR) Schedule: 40 hours Duration: 12 Months; potential to extend Pay: $91-$93.01/hr, DOE (W2 and benefit options) The Planet Group is looking for a Technical Designer - AI to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract, working a remote schedule but located within 100 miles of Cupertino, CA. Technical Designer - AI Qualifications: β€’ Proven experience as a Production Designer (or equivalent) with a portfolio of detail-oriented design across digital & product β€’ Demonstrated experience architecting AI solutions: agentic/multi-agent workflows, prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and structured outputs β€’ Hands-on with LLMs and generative models (text/vision/audio), retrieval/grounding, and evaluation methodologies β€’ Strong graphic design skills: visual communication, typography, layout; mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop (advanced retouching) β€’ Meticulous file prep, asset management, adherence to specs, and quality control for largescale content operations. β€’ Proficiency in scripting for workflow automation (e.g., Python; familiarity with Swift or JavaScript a plus) β€’ Ability to create and maintain clear documentation (style guides, SOPs, tech overviews) and to drive QA/testing of assets, templates, and tools β€’ Excellent cross-functional communication; demonstrated success partnering with both creative and technical teams β€’ Strong problem-solving, systems thinking, and attention to detail; comfortable with debugging complex pipelines β€’ Detail-driven, systematically organized, enjoys unblocking teams, and thrives on optimizing design and AI workflows through rigorous documentation, testing, and β€œdesigner”-in-the-loop safeguards β€’ Experience integrating and optimizing against internal model endpoints and data sources; familiarity with privacy, security, and compliance best practices β€’ Knowledge of agent orchestration frameworks and components (e.g., planners/critics, vector stores, embeddings, evaluators, observability) β€’ Experience developing automation scripts or custom tools to improve design workflows; ability to architect and develop agentic AI at scale a plus β€’ Skilled in Sketch and familiarity with UI/UX principles is a bonus; ability to prototype in context and present solutions to creative and stakeholders is also a plus β€’ Basic understanding of front-end development (SwiftUI, React) or creative coding tools (Processing, TouchDesigner, Unity) relevant to prototyping is a plus β€’ Bonus points for exposure to genAI for media (image/video/audio), ASR/TTS, and media asset pipelines; comfort with A/B testing and experimentation platforms β€’ Understanding of accessibility standards and localization/transcreation workflows is a bonus Technical Designer - AI Description: β€’ Architect agentic AI workflows and multi-agent systems β€’ Work with existing internal model endpoints and tooling β€’ Collaborate closely with creative and technical teams to accelerate high-quality content production initiatives β€’ Design and implement agentic and multi-agent patterns (planner–critic–actor, tool-use/function calling, memory/knowledge, safety/approval gates) β€’ Integrate with existing internal models, APIs, and approved tools; define contracts, guardrails, and observability for safe deployment β€’ Build retrieval and grounding pipelines (RAG) using internal knowledge bases, templates, and brand/style guides β€’ Adapt high-quality internal templates and design systems; translate creative briefs into scalable AI-assisted workflows β€’ Develop assistive agents that propose on-brand copy, imagery, and UI microcopy; stage actions for human approval β€’ Create prompt libraries & frameworks, evaluation datasets, and reusable tool flows for common content tasks β€’ Support optimization of design and AI workflows via tool testing, process refinement, and quality assurance β€’ Implement evaluation harnesses (quality, safety, bias, compliance), A/B tests, and automated regression checks β€’ Establish SLAs, retries, and idempotency for production pipelines; monitor use, latency, and success rates β€’ Create, maintain, and adapt clear documentation: style guides, model/agent specs, workflows, and technical overviews β€’ Run playbooks for designer-in-the-loop reviews; define approval criteria and rollback/ compensation steps β€’ Train and support creative and engineering partners; provide external partners with clear guidelines for on-brand delivery β€’ Embed privacy-by-design, accessibility, and safety policies; enforce least-privilege access and content guardrails β€’ Partner with legal, policy, and security to ensure responsible AI usage and auditability across locales β€’ Work fluidly with designers, writers, producers, engineers, data scientists, and program managers β€’ Translate creative needs into technical specs and technical constraints into creative options
