Role description
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with deep expertise in Python, AWS services, and experience with data capture, transmissions, and FTP-based workflows. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in leading technical projects, building robust cloud solutions, and mentoring a team of developers. This position is available as a contract-to-hire or long-term contract opportunity, offering flexibility and the potential for long-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of backend systems using Python and AWS.
• Build and manage data ingestion pipelines, including FTP-based data transmissions and capture mechanisms.
• Ensure the reliability and efficiency of file transmission systems and other ETL workflows.
• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Guide and mentor engineering team members in code quality, architecture, and development practices.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of professional experience in software development.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and its frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including:
• EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, API Gateway
• Solid experience with FTP protocols, file-based data transmissions, and data capture workflows.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud orchestration (ECS, EKS).
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong communication and team leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in event-driven or serverless architectures.
• Background in working with sensitive or regulated data.
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
• Experience in a DevOps or full-stack environment.
• Knowledge of scripting or tools to automate data ingestion and transformation processes.

• Remote Flexibility: NO- 5 days in office M-F
