Role description
About Prime Health Technologies
Prime Health Technologies is redefining healthcare from reactive to proactive, building the world’s first AI-driven Precision Health Operating System for governments and insurers.
Our platform integrates biometric data, behavioral patterns, and intelligent reasoning to deliver personalized, preventative care at national scale.
We partner with governments to improve population health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and empower every citizen with a personal AI health companion that adapts daily by guiding movement, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle.
This is not a wellness app. It’s a next-generation national health infrastructure, designed to power entire populations and give each individual a digital twin that reflects and evolves with their daily data.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Technical Lead / Backend Engineer to help architect and operationalize the backend systems powering the Prime Health platform. This role begins as a hands-on builder (Python/FastAPI, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure) and transitions into a technical leadership position as we scale globally.
You’ll collaborate directly with the Chief AI & Systems Architect to establish the backend foundation for the personalized health companion, the Government Health Command Center, and the AI Reasoning Engine that powers population-scale insights and feedback loops.
This role combines backend engineering, contributing to systems architecture, and early DevOps oversight — ensuring the platform is secure, compliant, and deployable across multiple cloud environments (with Azure as a first requirement).
Key Responsibilities
1. Backend Development (Initial Phase)
• Build core backend services in Python (FastAPI) to support:
• Health data ingestion pipelines (Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect, wearables)
• Authentication via Auth0 or Supabase
• APIs for mobile backend
• Secure REST / GraphQL endpoints for React-based administrative tools
• Design and implement modular data schemas to support:
• Behavioral and biometric signal processing
• Goal tracking, adaptive health recommendations, and user scoring
1. System Architecture & DevOps
• Architect a multi-cloud-ready backend capable of regional deployments (Azure required; AWS preferred, other regionally-based providers are nice to have)
• Define Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Pulumi) templates for scalable provisioning
• Implement baseline observability and instrumentation (Datadog, Amplitude, Sentry)
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and regional data-residency laws
1. Technical Leadership
• Collaborate with the Chief Architect to translate specifications into milestones and technical deliverables
• Establish coding standards, API conventions, and CI/CD best practices
• Mentor future backend and DevOps engineers as the team scales in 2026+
• Participate in system design reviews, ensuring forward compatibility and modular growth
1. Infrastructure & Data Systems
• Develop hybrid data architectures using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and vector databases (Milvus / Pinecone)
• Manage data ingestion and synchronization pipelines (Airbyte, Prefect, or Temporal)
• Support ML and analytics workflows through feature stores and model registries
• Implement granular data governance with consent-driven encryption and access policies
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, including 2+ years in technical leadership
• Expert proficiency in Python (FastAPI or Flask) and asynchronous service design
• Experience with Azure cloud services (Functions, App Services, Blob, AKS)
• Proven ability to design and scale API-based architectures for high-security, high-compliance systems
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL orchestration, and microservice communication
• Solid grounding in database design (SQL + NoSQL) and data modeling
• Hands-on experience with DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring)
• Familiarity with privacy-by-design principles and data protection frameworks
Preferred Experience
• Background in healthtech, wearables, or biometrics
• Understanding of abstract design principles for portability and good coding practices, including documentation.
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards: FHIR, HL7, SNOMED CT, LOINC
• Experience with LLM-based APIs or semantic search systems (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
• Agentic AI exposure, MCP knowledge
• Working knowledge of React-based admin dashboards
• Prior experience supporting multi-tenant, regionalized deployments (data sovereignty focus)
• Familiarity with emerging spec-driven development frameworks
Soft Skills
• Systems-level thinker with a focus on scalability and maintainability
• Excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills
• Comfortable working in early-stage, high-autonomy environments
• Bias toward clarity, structure, and proactive leadership
What You’ll Build
You will:
• Establish the core backend architecture for a global precision health platform
• Implement the first cross-region, privacy-compliant deployment (Azure-first, multi-cloud-ready)
• Lay the technical foundation for agentic personalization, adaptive feedback loops, and national analytics
• Define the standards and culture of technical excellence for the engineering organization
To show you read this description carefully, email us at rlowery@primehealthtechnologies.com with the subject line: “Closed-Loop Architect – (Your Name)” and include one sentence answering: “What does a closed-loop health system mean to you?”.
• Note that historically 95% of people will skip this step so by just doing this, it weeds out the people who are just applying to apply vs the people who actually care.
Looking forward to hopefully working with you
