Role Overview
As a Data Science Technical Project Lead, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of multiple simultaneous data-driven projects from initiation to completion. This role sits at the intersection of technology, analytics, and business strategy—turning complex data into actionable intelligence. The challenges you will tackle are diverse and advanced, with meaningful real-world impact on millions of people.
About the Position
The Data Science function focuses on extracting insights from diverse, multi-format information sources using analytical techniques ranging from basic statistical methods to advanced machine learning and GenAI.
Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, agility, and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively. Alongside deep technical knowledge, you must also demonstrate strong skills in project management, change management, and communication.
Knowledge Areas:
• Project management & change management frameworks
• Effective data visualization & presentation
• Statistical and probabilistic analysis
• Machine learning methodologies (including GenAI)
• Programming/software development
Roles and Responsibilities
• Fully lead and deliver 2–3 data science projects concurrently
• Define project direction, scope, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
• Ensure all insights and outcomes are actionable and aligned with business goals
• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams, including external partners when required
• Assemble and manage project pods comprising internal data scientists and external contractors/consultants
• Contribute hands-on using Python when necessary
• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a passion for continuous learning
Requirements
• Exceptional project management, change management, and stakeholder management capabilities
• Strong fluency in AI/ML tools and techniques, including GenAI/Agentic AI
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline
• Outstanding candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in progress may also be considered
Preferred Skills
• Experience in the energy or utility sector
• Active GitHub repository or StackOverflow presence
• Participation in data science competitions (Kaggle, KDnuggets, etc.)
• GIS knowledge (ArcGIS preferred)
• Experience with interactive visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
