Role description
18-24 Month Contract - Contract to FTE - Energy Storage System - Hybrid
We are seeking a Technical Reporting Engineer/Analyst to support management visibility, decision-making, and performance oversight across active Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. In this role, you will transform site data, operational events, and system performance information into clear, actionable reporting for leadership, engineering teams, and customers. Your work will play a critical role in tracking asset health, identifying emerging risks, and supporting continuous improvement across the fleet.
This is an on-site/field-support role with a strong focus on active, operating BESS sites.
As a Technical Reporting Engineer/Analyst, you will:
• Collect and interpret operational data from live BESS sites—including alarms, events, cycling behavior, thermal trends, availability metrics, and performance KPIs.
• Produce clear, concise, and accurate technical reports for management that summarize site performance, incidents, risks, and recommended actions.
• Track site-level and fleet-level KPIs such as availability, throughput, fault frequency, safety performance, and energy output.
• Support investigation reports for system faults, outages, recurring alarms, and operational deviations.
• Collaborate with system, quality, field service, and remote operations teams to ensure data accuracy and complete technical narratives.
• Maintain documentation of site issues, engineering changes, upgrades, and field interventions.
• Identify performance trends across sites and escalate findings that affect safety, reliability, or customer commitments.
• Create dashboards, charts, or structured summaries that simplify complex technical information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing reports for internal reviews, customer updates, warranty discussions, and compliance requirements.
• Improve standard reporting processes, templates, and workflows for field operations.
What the ideal candidate brings:
• Experience with BESS, renewable energy assets, utilities, or industrial systems where site performance data is monitored and analyzed.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets, alarms, and system logs.
• Familiarity with operational KPIs for power or storage systems (availability, cycling, charge/discharge efficiency, event trends, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complex technical topics for management and customers.
• High attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and a quality-driven mindset.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, field operations, remote monitoring, and quality teams.
• Comfortable working with data from real-time operational systems.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Technical Communications, or related discipline.
• 3–5+ years of experience in technical reporting, field operations support, performance analysis, or similar roles.
• Experience with BESS, SCADA, EMS/BMS data, or power systems reporting is a strong plus.
