Role description
We are seeking a Technical Writing Specialist with experience in data center environments to create and manage high-quality documentation for critical infrastructure systems. This role involves working closely with subject matter experts across engineering, operations, and IT to produce clear, accurate, and user-friendly content.

Location: Mount Pleasant, WI (5 days onsite.)
Length: 6+ month Assignment
Pay: $40 - $45/hour W2
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and IT systems
• Create user guides, SOPs, installation manuals, troubleshooting procedures, and training materials
• Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to gather and translate technical information
• Simplify complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Organize and manage documentation libraries and repositories
• Ensure version control and consistency across platforms
• Create diagrams, charts, and visual aids using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or Adobe Illustrator
• Review and edit documentation for clarity, grammar, and technical accuracy
• Conduct usability testing and incorporate feedback
• Ensure documentation meets industry standards (ISO, NFPA, NIST) and supports audit/compliance needs
Qualifications
Required:
• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure (cooling, power, networking, monitoring)
• Experience documenting systems such as BAS, EPMS, UPS, chillers, and fire suppression
• Exceptional writing and editing skills
• Ability to simplify complex technical information
• Experience with structured writing and content reuse strategies
Preferred:
• Proficiency in tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Confluence
• Familiarity with markup languages (HTML, Markdown) and version control systems (Git)
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or related field
• Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or similar certification
• Prior experience in technical writing within IT, engineering, or data center environments
Work Environment
• Fast-paced, mission-critical infrastructure setting
• Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, IT, and operations teams
• May require occasional site visits or hands-on interaction with systems
