Technology Business Management (TBM) Consultant

Role: Apptio TBM Consultant Location: NYC, NY// Hybrid Experience: 10+Years Must Visa: Only USC/ H1B Job Description: Apptio Technology Business Management (TBM) and Costing roles focus on providing transparency into IT spend by bridging the gap between technical operations and financial data. These professionals act as technical and functional advisors who translate executive vision into actionable financial models. Core Responsibilities • Model Management: Design, build, and maintain Apptio models, including cost pools, IT towers, and service mapping to support cost transparency and financial planning. • Data Integration: Import and transform raw data from multiple systems of record, such as General Ledger (GL), ERP, ServiceNow, and Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). • Operationalization: Lead monthly data load processes, including validation, cleansing, and reconciliation to ensure audit-ready reporting. • Strategic Reporting: Configure dashboards and KPIs (e.g., unit costs, TCO, and Run/Grow/Transform ratios) for CIO, CFO, and FinOps stakeholders. • Governance & Advisory: Partner with the TBM Office to establish standard taxonomies (like ATUM™️) and implement chargeback/showback models. Essential Skills & Qualifications • Platform Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Apptio Costing, Planning, and TBM Studio. • Methodology Knowledge: Strong understanding of the TBM Framework, including taxonomy, allocation models, and IT financial management (ITFM) principles. • Analytical Prowess: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau. • Domain Literacy: Familiarity with IT infrastructure domains, such as data centers, cloud billing, virtualization, and application development. • Communication: Ability to translate complex technical and financial data into "value stories" for non-technical leadership. Key Certifications • TBM Council Certifications: Such as TBM Executive or Certified TBM Analyst (CTBMA). • Industry Frameworks: ITIL 4 Foundation or FinOps Practitioner. • Technical Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
