Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid/On-site as required)
Position Summary
We are seeking an expert-level SolarWinds Engineer to lead the monitoring strategy for mission-critical transportation infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who understands the unique demands of transit systemsβparticularly uptime, safety, and real-time performance visibility across rail, bus, and control center networks.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and manage SolarWinds environments (NPM, NTA, SAM, NCM, etc.) across transit systems.
Develop advanced dashboards and alerts for SCADA, signaling, and communications systems.
Integrate SolarWinds with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) to support field teams and control centers.
Lead root cause analysis and performance tuning for transit infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with NERC-CIP, DOT, and local transportation authority standards.
Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to align monitoring with safety and reliability goals.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on SolarWinds experience in large-scale, real-time environments.
Deep understanding of SNMP, NetFlow, WMI, and industrial protocols used in transportation.
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation and integration.
Experience supporting field operations and remote asset monitoring.
Familiarity with transit systems, control rooms, and transportation procurement processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud-based monitoring (Azure/AWS).
SCADA integration and NOC operations experience.
Desired but not always required: SolarWinds certifications or equivalents like CCNA/CCNP.
