Role description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Transportation Specialist to oversee and optimize our supply chain logistics. This role involves managing transportation operations, analyzing data to improve efficiency, and implementing process improvements across various systems. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in data analysis, supply chain management, and transportation planning, with experience in ERP systems and logistics solutions. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and enhance overall supply chain performance. Responsibilities Develop and execute transportation plans to ensure timely delivery of freight while optimizing costs and resources. Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SAP ERP, and other TMS platforms for planning, execution, and monitoring of shipments. Analyze supply chain data using SQL, Tableau, and data visualization tools to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for process improvement. Conduct data mining and business analysis to support demand planning, warehouse management, and logistics operations. Collaborate with 3PL providers, carriers, and internal teams to coordinate freight movements and improve service levels. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation efficiency, freight costs, and delivery accuracy. Implement continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles and process optimization techniques. Collect data related to transportation activities for reporting purposes and support research efforts for supply chain enhancements. Manage transportation-related documentation within ERP systems such as AS400 or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Conduct root cause analysis on transportation disruptions or inefficiencies and develop corrective action plans. Qualifications Proven experience in transportation management, supply chain analytics, or logistics roles. Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in SQL, Tableau, data visualization tools, and Excel. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle Transportation Management, AS400, or similar platforms. Knowledge of freight management, demand planning, warehouse management systems (WMS), and 3PL operations. Experience with process improvement methodologies including Lean or Six Sigma is preferred. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions for transportation challenges. Excellent research skills combined with business analysis capabilities to support supply chain decision-making. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and external partners effectively.
