Role description
Robert Half Technology are partnering with a fast-growing sports commerce platform to hire a TypeScript Engineer on an initial 6–12 month contract, with the potential to convert to a permanent role for the right candidate.
The business operates at the intersection of technology, live commerce, and fan engagement, sitting within a major sports and entertainment ecosystem. It holds exclusive merchandise rights across leading professional leagues and is building innovative live streaming and collectibles marketplace products designed to transform the digital collecting experience at scale.
Combining the pace and energy of a start-up with the backing and stability of a large established group, the platform supports tens of millions of global users and offers a strong foundation for innovation across a range of product areas.
We are building a multi-product ecosystem – including live auctions, real-time purchasing, streaming and related commerce experiences – and are seeking a TypeScript Engineer to help build greenfield products and contribute to the technical foundations for future development.
This role works across components and applications within larger systems, participates in design discussions, and contributes to engineering-wide learning. The focus is on delivering clean, maintainable and well-tested code, while helping design and build scalable and robust services.
Key Responsibilities
• Full-stack development across a live commerce platform
• Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of front-end applications and back-end services (APIs, databases, microservices)
• Monitor system metrics, investigate issues, and resolve production bugs as they arise
• Work with business stakeholders to understand user and seller experience improvements and translate them into technical solutions
• Document existing and newly developed features
• Support migration of users and functionality from a legacy platform to a new system
• Work within an agile team to propose technical solutions, maintain code quality, and support delivery of migration work
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement platform-specific requirements during migration
Profile
• Strong understanding of database design, modelling and optimisation (particularly SQL)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Ability to monitor systems, triage issues, and distinguish between real incidents and false positives
• TypeScript: Strong experience in fully typed, production-scale codebases
• React: Experience building and optimising multiple front-end applications
• SQL: Strong capability in database design, querying and performance optimisation
• GraphQL, tRPC & REST: Understanding of different API architectures and when to use them
• Docker & CI/CD (e.g. GitHub Actions)
• Python (useful for data and operational collaboration)
• Kubernetes & ArgoCD (infrastructure awareness)
Company
• UK's market leading sports commerce platform with offices in London
• Hybrid working - London based
• 6-12 month contract. Permanent opportunity if successful
Salary & Benefits
The salary range/rates of pay is dependent upon your experience, qualifications or training.
