Role description
Company: Lumirithmic Location: London, UK (Hybrid / Remote) About the Role Lumirithmic is an Imperial College London spin-out, backed by major technology companies as strategic partners. We are building next-generation tools that bring hyper-realistic computer graphics and visual computing technology—previously reserved for Hollywood VFX—to a much broader audience. We are seeking a UX Engineer to join our expanding team. In this role, you will take ownership of core front-end functionality, working closely with researchers, engineers, and clients across VFX, gaming, and tech. You will be trusted to independently implement, improve, and maintain complex UI features that power our products. You’ll join a flat, collaborative organisation led by an industry veteran responsible for some of the most realistic visual effects in modern cinema—helping translate cutting-edge technology into production-ready tools used by studios worldwide. 🚀 Key Responsibilities • Enhance Interactive Editing • Implement and improve core editor functionality such as copy & paste, marquee selection, hotkeys, grouping, and robust undo/redo systems. • Improve Content Management • Build features including “Open Recent” workflows, cloud-based sharing, and persistence of intermediate outputs. • Advance Data Visualisation • Develop and maintain visualisation components for various media types (e.g. collections of 3D assets), using WebGL and related technologies where appropriate. • Develop Animation & Timeline Features • Support timeline-based interfaces for visualising and manipulating temporal data. • Write High-Quality, Maintainable Code • Independently develop front-end components with minimal supervision, following established coding standards and best practices. • Contribute to System Design • Provide input on front-end architecture, implementation strategies, and testing approaches. • Identify Opportunities for Improvement • Proactively spot issues, recurring patterns, and opportunities to improve both the product and development workflow. Qualifications Required Skills & Experience • 3–5 years of professional front-end development experience, with the ability to independently implement features and resolve complex issues. • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and the Angular framework, including debugging, refactoring, and working within large codebases. • Solid foundation in HTML and CSS/SCSS, with experience building polished, production-ready user interfaces. • Basic knowledge or practical exposure to computer graphics and/or computer vision concepts, such as 3D scenes, transformations, rendering pipelines, or visual data. • Comfortable taking ownership of front-end features and working autonomously in a fast-moving environment. Preferred Skills • Commercial experience with WebGL or other 3D graphics technologies. • Experience with RxJS and NgRx for state management. • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jasmine. • Knowledge of Protobuf / gRPC-web. • Experience with API development. • Working knowledge of C++. Why Join Lumirithmic? • Work on cutting-edge visual computing technology used across VFX, gaming, and tech. • Collaborate with world-class experts in computer graphics and engineering. • Take real ownership in a flat, low-bureaucracy organisation. • Help democratise technology that has historically been accessible only to top-tier studios.
