Due to our globally expanding service offerings we are seeking top-talent to join our teams and grow with us. Title: Snowflake Lead Architect Location: Remote Duration: 6+ Months Contract We are seeking an exceptional Principal Database Engineer to architect and lead our enterprise Snowflake ecosystem as the cornerstone of our PULSE platform modernization. This role will design and implement a secure, multi-tenant data platform that serves multiple departments and workloads across our telehealth organization, while establishing governance frameworks and leveraging cutting-edge Snowflake capabilities to drive inPULSEtion in healthcare analytics and AI. As the technical authority for our Snowflake environment, you will architect a robust platform that balances security, accessibility, and inPULSEtion-enabling teams across the organization to leverage data safely while maintaining HIPAA compliance. You'll work closely with the VP of Data Science to establish our organization as a leader in modern cloud data architecture within the healthcare sector. Key Responsibilities Secure Multi-Tenant Platform Architecture Design and implement enterprise-scale Snowflake architecture supporting multiple departments, business units, and workload types (analytics, data science, operational reporting, AI/ML) within a unified, governed platform Architect logical and physical data isolation strategies using Snowflake databases, schemas, and secure views to enable departmental autonomy while maintaining centralized governance and cost visibility Establish workload separation patterns through virtual warehouse design, resource monitors, and multi-cluster warehouses to ensure performance isolation between production operations, ad-hoc analytics, and ML training workloads Design disaster recovery and business continuity architectures leveraging Snowflake's replication and failover capabilities across Azure regions Create reference architectures for common use cases including clinical analytics, patient insights, operational dashboards, and AI-powered applications Azure-Native Provisioning & RBAC Excellence Develop Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks using Terraform or Azure Bicep for automated Snowflake resource provisioning, ensuring consistent, repeatable, and auditable environment creation Design and implement comprehensive RBAC model that aligns with organizational structure, enabling self-service data access while enforcing least-privilege principles and separation of duties Establish Azure AD integration patterns for seamless single sign-on (SSO) and federated authentication, eliminating password management overhead Create role hierarchies and privilege escalation workflows that support both functional roles (data engineer, analyst, data scientist) and data domain roles (clinical data, billing, patient services) Implement automated provisioning workflows for onboarding new users, departments, and projects with pre-configured access templates and approval processes Design network security architecture including Azure Private Link, service endpoints, and network policies ensuring secure connectivity between Snowflake and Azure services Establish tag-based access control patterns for dynamic, scalable permission management as data assets grow Snowflake Secure Data Sharing & Collaboration Architect internal data sharing strategy enabling seamless, secure data collaboration between departments without data duplication or ETL overhead Design and implement Snowflake Shares for external partner integrations, vendor collaborations, and healthcare data exchange networks Establish data clean rooms for privacy-preserving analytics with external organizations while maintaining HIPAA compliance Create listing management processes for publishing curated data products to internal consumers through share governance Implement reader account strategies for external stakeholders who need access to specific datasets without requiring full Snowflake accounts Design cross-cloud sharing architectures supporting data exchange between Azure Snowflake and partner AWS/Google Cloud Platform environments Snowflake Marketplace Strategy & Implementation Evaluate and integrate third-party datasets from Snowflake Marketplace to enrich internal healthcare analytics (social determinants of health, pharmaceutical data, population health benchmarks) Design procurement and evaluation workflows for marketplace data products, including POC frameworks and cost-benefit analysis Establish governance for external data consumption including data quality validation, refresh monitoring, and usage tracking Create marketplace listing strategy for potential future monetization of anonymized, aggregated healthcare insights (where applicable) Implement Native App Framework for deploying pre-built analytics applications and ML models across the organization Advanced Data Governance & Compliance Implement Snowflake's Universal Search and Tagging to create enterprise-wide data catalog with business glossary, data lineage, and metadata management Design and deploy Object Tagging strategies for automated data classification (PII, PHI, sensitive, public) enabling dynamic access control and compliance reporting Leverage Tag-Based Masking policies to automatically protect sensitive data based on classification, user role, and access context Implement Column-Level Security and Row Access Policies for fine-grained data protection aligned with HIPAA requirements Establish Data Classification framework with automated scanning and tagging of new data assets as they enter the platform Create compliance reporting dashboards using Access History and Query History for audit trails, data lineage, and regulatory reporting Design Data Quality frameworks leveraging Snowflake's data quality functions and monitoring capabilities Implement Horizon Catalog for unified governance across multiple Snowflake accounts and clouds (if multi-account strategy is required) Snowflake Cortex AI Integration Architect AI/ML infrastructure using Snowflake Cortex to enable in-platform machine learning without data movement Implement Cortex LLM functions for natural language processing on clinical notes, patient feedback analysis, and documentation summarization Design Cortex Search capabilities for semantic search across healthcare documentation and knowledge bases Establish Cortex Analyst for natural language query interfaces enabling business users to interact with data conversationally Create ML Feature Stores leveraging Snowflake's native capabilities for centralized feature management and model serving Implement Vector databases using Snowflake's vector data type for similarity search and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) applications Design model deployment patterns for operationalizing ML models directly in Snowflake using Cortex ML Functions Establish responsible AI governance including model versioning, performance monitoring, and bias detection frameworks Snowflake Horizon & Modern Platform Features Implement Snowflake Notebooks for collaborative data science, creating governed environments for Python/SQL development with integrated version control Leverage Streamlit in Snowflake to build and deploy internal analytics applications without separate hosting infrastructure Design Git integration workflows connecting Snowflake development to GitHub/Azure DevOps for version-controlled database objects and data pipeline code Implement Dynamic Tables for simplified incremental data processing and materialized view management, replacing complex streaming table patterns Architect Iceberg Table integration for open format storage enabling multi-engine access to Snowflake-managed data Utilize Snowflake Container Services (if applicable) for deploying custom ML models and applications directly on Snowflake infrastructure Implement Event Tables for enhanced observability, monitoring, and
