Role description
Workato Engineer
6 months contract
Remote (must be in United states)
What youโll be doing (ie. job duties): To be completed by all business teams except Eng.
โ Design, build, and maintain integrations across HR enterprise applications
(Workday, Docebo, Greenhouse, Anaplan, and others) using Workato, custom
connectors, and reusable automation frameworksโfollowing platform
governance and best practices.
โ Partner with HR business teams, Product Managers, and Engineering to gather
requirements, scope enhancements, and deliver scalable integration solutions
that meet business needs.
โ Integrate Workato workflows with AI/LLM services (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or
enterprise LLMs) to automate intelligent decision-making, content generation, or
data enrichmentโevaluating new capabilities and designing reusable, secure
frameworks for adoption.
โ Build, optimize, and support ETL/ELT processes through Workato pipelines and
related data integration tools to enable accurate business analytics.
โ Drive monitoring, health checks, and production support (including on-call
rotation), proactively identifying issues, leading root-cause analysis, and
implementing durable fixes to maintain integration reliability.
โ Identify and implement improvements to address architectural gaps, reduce
technical debt, and enhance performance across the integration ecosystem.
โ Manage Workato deployments, versioning, and release execution, and
participate in recipe reviews and architectural assessments to maintain quality
and consistency.
โ Build and maintain documentation, runbooks, and technical designs to enable
team knowledge sharing, and provide platform guidance and mentorship to team
members and stakeholders.
โ Adhere to EAA integration standards, governance frameworks, and
Workato team guidelines for recipe development, security, and deployment.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): To be completed by all business teams except Eng.
โ 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting integrations
across enterprise systems using Workato - including recipe development, custom
connectors, job frameworks, error handling patterns, and platform governance.
โ 2+ years of software development experience with proficiency in one or more
languages such as Go, Java, or Python, with a solid understanding of APIs, webhooks, REST principles, and payload formats (JSON, XML).
โ Proven experience building integration solutions with cloud-based HR/enterprise
applications such as Workday, Docebo, Greenhouse, NetSuite, Anaplan or similar platformsโwith the ability to define scalable patterns and reusable
components.
โ Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and experience supporting or building data pipelines to enable accurate business analytics.
โ Exposure to AI/LLM technologies with the ability to integrate AI services into automation workflows, including an understanding of responsible AI usage, security, compliance, and data-handling considerations.
โ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues end-to-end, manage multiple priorities, and thrive independently in a fast-paced environment.
โ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
โ Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Nice to haves:
โ Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
โ Familiarity with ETL tools like Apache Airflow for synchronizing large data volumes between systems and connecting APIs and databases.
