Job Title: Ab Initio Consultant – Migration SME Employment Type: Contract Industry: Data & Analytics / IT Consulting About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Ab Initio Developer / Consultant / Migration SME to support a critical client engagement focused on migrating legacy ETL workloads off the Ab Initio platform and into modern cloud-native solutions such as AWS Glue. In this role, you'll serve as a hands-on subject matter expert, helping architect, plan, and execute the migration of complex data pipelines while advising on best practices for transitioning from tightly coupled legacy systems to scalable, modern ETL frameworks. This is a client-facing, delivery-critical role suited for someone who understands Ab Initio at a granular level, has led or supported ETL tool migrations, and is comfortable operating across technical and strategic layers of enterprise data projects. Key Responsibilities: • Act as the technical SME for Ab Initio, providing deep expertise across architecture, development, and integration patterns. • Assess existing Ab Initio pipelines, workflows, and dependencies to create a clear migration roadmap. • Lead or support the design and implementation of migration strategies to cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Apache Spark, or other modern ETL platforms). • Collaborate closely with data architects, cloud engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure smooth end-to-end transitions. • Provide hands-on support in reverse engineering legacy Ab Initio graphs, documenting business logic, and redesigning them for the target platform. • Support testing, validation, and performance tuning during and post-migration. Required Skills & Experience: • 5+ years of hands-on Ab Initio development experience, including deep knowledge of GDE, Co>Operating System, EME, and advanced Ab Initio features. • Proven experience in migrating Ab Initio workloads to cloud or modern ETL solutions (e.g., AWS Glue, Talend, Informatica, Databricks, Apache Spark). • Strong grasp of ETL/ELT architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data flows. • Understanding of cloud-native data engineering principles, particularly within AWS ecosystems. • Excellent communication and documentation skills comfortable interfacing with business and technical stakeholders. • Experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment is highly desirable.
