Who You Are
As an Actuarial Analyst for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, you are a creative and analytic problem solver who can apply skills and knowledge to novel and nuanced business situations. You will analyze health care data and collaborate with other departments to draw actionable business insights. You are passionate about the actuarial & analytics field within health care and have ideally either completed an actuarial exam or have a programming and data science background. Your superior communication and collaboration skills make you the ideal team member.
What Youβll Do
β’ Retrieve, summarize and analyze financial and healthcare data
β’ Build actuarial models to support multiple lines of business, teams, and initiatives, develop financial projections that impact strategic decisions and plan management
β’ Support analysis around quality improvement, clinical program evaluation, forecasting, population health, provider incentives, ROI analyses, and ad hoc requests
β’ Incorporate the use of data visualization software to help audience absorb data and identify emerging trends
What Youβll Bring
β’ 0-5 yearsβ work experience
β’ Must possess a Bachelorβs Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science or related field
β’ Completion of 1+ actuarial exams preferred, but not required
β’ Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts as well as an extensive knowledge of spreadsheets and database software.
β’ Strong technical skills in using Microsoft Office products
β’ Preferred:
β’ Programming skills in SQL,or R
β’ Experience using PowerBI
β’ Advanced Excel ability including writing VBA macros
β’ Basic understanding of health insurance
