FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an AI Chatbot Technical Lead to work for our client within the education sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.
Our client is seeking a hands-on AI Chatbot Technical Lead to drive the development and enhancement of their Service Management Chatbot. This is a key role for someone with deep technical expertise in Python, LangChain, and OpenAI services, particularly within Azure environments. You will lead the technical delivery of the clientβs Chat API, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and continuously improving.
Responsibilities
β’ Lead the development and enhancement of the Chat API using Python, LangChain, and OpenAI services on Azure Function Apps
β’ Monitor and resolve API bugs and performance issues to ensure high availability and reliability
β’ Oversee and troubleshoot data ingestion processes supporting the chatbotβs functionality
β’ Collaborate with solution architects, product teams, and the cloud team to deliver a reliable and scalable solution
β’ Champion best practices in API development, documentation, and continuous improvement
β’ Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other developers as needed
Requirements
β’ Minimum of 3 years proven experience in Python development, with strong knowledge of LangChain and OpenAI APIs
β’ Hands-on experience with Azure Function Apps and cloud-native development
β’ Strong background in API design, monitoring, and performance optimisation
β’ Experience managing data ingestion pipelines and integrating data sources
β’ Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
β’ Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
β’ Experience in IT service management or chatbot development
β’ Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices
β’ Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
