AI Engineer - Back End Focused

This role is ideal for a back-end engineer experienced in building secure, scalable AI systems in regulated environments. You'll design and deploy production-grade AI services-such as LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows-while embedding security, compliance, and data governance at every layer. Description • Architect, develop, and deploy secure AI services and APIs in production • Build intelligent back-end systems that integrate LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows • Embed cybersecurity, data privacy, and auditability into every stage of the AI lifecycle • Work directly with security, compliance, and cloud engineering teams to align with regulatory standards • Implement Model Context Protocol (MCP) for managing secure and traceable LLM context injections • Integrate with enterprise identity systems and enforce role-based access controls • Conduct code reviews, pen-test remediation, and support audits (FCA, PRA) Profile • Delivering production-grade AI systems from the ground up • Building secure APIs for LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows • Implementing AI pipelines with robust data governance, masking, and DLP • Working directly with cybersecurity and compliance teams in regulated environments • Designed and managed AI lab environments using IaC, containerisation, and secure networking practices • Complying with frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, or EU AI Act Job Offer • 6 month contract (initially) • Competitive daily rate of £700-£900, inside IR35. • Office based in London (Liverpool Street) - 2/3 days onsite • Opportunity to work on innovative AI projects in the financial services industry.
