AI Engineer (Part-time)

A nonprofit organization in New York City has a great Part-time opportunity awaiting a new AI Engineer. In this role, the AI Engineer will be responsible for managing and expanding the client's AI chatbots and related AI systems. About the Opportunity: • Schedule: 20-hour week (availability between 9am to 5pm EST) • Setting: Remote schedule, local presence in NYC highly preferred for occasional onsite meetings with the team • • • • 3rd parties will not be considered!!! • • • Responsibilities: • Develop, test, and refine prompts for AI chatbots to ensure they provide accurate, helpful, and ethical responses in legal contexts • Manage existing AI chatbots, monitoring performance and implementing improvements • Document AI prompting strategies, templates, and best practices • Run and maintain open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) in local environments using Docker • Develop and test AI solutions to business needs • Implement safeguards to ensure client confidentiality and data security • Collaborate with staff to understand their needs and translate them into effective AI solutions • Train and orient staff on using AI prompts in safe, ethical, policy compliant manner • Train and support non-technical staff on effective AI system use • Evaluate AI model outputs for accuracy, bias, and alignment with mission and values Qualifications: • 1+ year of experience with AI systems, Prompt Engineering, or Natural Language Processing • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field • Demonstrated experience with Prompt Engineering for large language models • Working knowledge of Docker and Containerization technologies • Basic understanding of Legal terminology and processes • Strong ethical judgment regarding AI implementation and data privacy • Proficiency in crafting effective prompts for AI systems to produce desired outputs • Strong writing and communication skills • Experience in project planning and management • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail Desired Skills: • Experience with legal technology or AI applications in legal settings • Familiarity with open-source LLMs (such as Llama, Mistral, etc.) • Knowledge of Python programming language • Experience with version control systems (Git) • Understanding of responsible AI principles and bias mitigation
