Job Summary
We are looking for an AI Innovation Lead - Data Science Lab to manage and scale our Data Science Lab (DSL), a hub for enterprise AI innovation. This is a high-impact, strategic role focused on developing AI/ML capabilities that support business transformation and innovation. The ideal candidate is a seasoned technical leader with deep experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and team leadership, who thrives on tackling complex business challenges with emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Leadership & Strategy: Lead the DSL and set a strategic direction for enterprise innovation. Mentor a high-performing team and align AI efforts with enterprise goals.
• Innovation & Research: Identify and implement emerging ML/AI technologies. Partner with academia and industry to experiment and develop novel approaches.
• AI/ML Development: Drive experimentation and delivery of AI/ML solutions, particularly using LLMs and Generative AI, applied to insurance use cases.
• Operational Excellence: Establish scalable, responsible frameworks for AI/ML lifecycle management. Lead tool evaluations and best practice implementation.
• Collaboration & Integration: Translate business needs into AI solutions, and collaborate cross-functionally to embed ML across products and operations.
Requirements:
• Education: PhD with 6+ years, Master's with 8+ years, or Bachelor's with 10+ years in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience:
• 7+ years of hands-on ML modeling and development
• Leadership experience managing data science teams (4+ members)
• Strong background in deep learning, LLMs, NLP, and parallel computing
• Proven success driving AI initiatives in a regulated or complex enterprise environment
• Skills:
• Python (including PyTorch and/or TensorFlow)
• Strong understanding of algorithms and scalable ML models
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• GPU, distributed computing, and experimentation infrastructure experience
• Other:
• Ability to work onsite 3 days a week at one of our key locations
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience applying AI/ML to unstructured data (e.g., contracts, medical records, service logs)
• Background in technology or financial services
• Patent filings or published research in ML/AI
• Experience with Generative AI or responsible AI frameworks
