AI Technical Lead

Optomi, in partnership with a Major US Airline, is seeking a Technical Lead to join their Innovation & Emerging Technologies team in the Dallas, TX area. This is a Contract-to-Hire position. What the Right Professional Will Enjoy: • Remote flexibility, with a preference for candidates based in the Dallas, TX area • The opportunity to lead hands-on engineering efforts building next-generation systems in the aviation industry • A collaborative environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and practical problem-solving • The chance to mentor engineers and drive the delivery of modern, AI-enabled solutions across enterprise platforms Apply today if your background includes: • 8+ years of experience developing and delivering large-scale distributed systems, including 4+ years working with AWS • Proven experience serving as a hands-on Technical Lead, guiding engineers, reviewing code, and ensuring high-quality implementation • 2+ years working with AI/ML-powered applications in production (experience with generative or agentic AI is a bonus) • Strong proficiency in Python (or similar languages) and practical experience with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, ECS/EKS, and DynamoDB • Working knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns, vector search tools (OpenSearch, pgvector), and grounding/citation approaches • Experience with application observability and performance tuning—including tracing, monitoring, evaluation pipelines, and A/B testing • Strong problem-solving ability and a focus on building scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research teams to drive execution
