Role description
We are pioneering cognitive-architecture and mental-health intelligence platform developed by a Washington D.C.–based strategic design and advanced-technology firm.
Our early-stage MVP will integrate:
LLM pipelines
UI/UX patient + provider interfaces
Guardrails
Data models + cognitive mapping
A research layer for subject-matter experts and institutions
We are looking for one or two exceptional technologists to help build the first working prototype.
The Role
We seek a Lead AI/ML Engineer (with or without a UI/UX-focused partner) to architect and build the MVP. You will:
Build and deploy LLM-based backend (Python)
Set up core architecture, vector DBs, guardrails, pipelines
Develop or integrate a minimal front-end UI for demos
Work closely with the founder/CEO on system logic, features, and platform evolution
Operate with high autonomy, precision, and startup agility
This is an opportunity to become core founding technical talent.
Responsibilities
Architect MVP-level cognitive/AI engine using Python + LLM frameworks
Build secure API layers and lightweight database structures
Develop UI components (or work with a front-end partner)
Translate conceptual/strategic design into functional product
Implement security, privacy, and compliance best practices
Help shape the product roadmap, research stack, and technical vision
Ideal Candidate Profile
3–10+ years experience in:
LLMs, RAG, model guardrails
Python (FastAPI, LangChain, Pydantic, etc.)
Vector DBs (Pinecone, Milvus, Chroma, Weaviate)
Cloud deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Experience in mental-health, health-tech, gov-tech, neuro-symbolic AI, or cognitive systems is a plus
Able to work in a lean startup environment and deliver fast
Creative, self-directed, and aligned with mission-driven impact
Compensation & Equity
Because this is an early-stage funded startup:
Compensation is negatable based on experience and role
Initial compensation is deferred, paid retroactively once seed capital is raised
Equity participation available (1%–5% depending on role and contribution)
Flexible contractor (1099) structure with option to convert to Core Team
IP, Copyright, and Confidentiality
All work produced under this engagement is:
Work for Hire
Fully owned and copyrighted by company
Covered under strict NDA, non-compete, and non-solicit terms
Cannot be replicated, shared, or reused outside MindCube
This is a protected project with proprietary IP, architecture, and brand assets.
Location Requirement
Candidates must be based in or willing to commute to the Washington D.C. / Maryland / Northern Virginia (DMV) region for periodic in-person collaboration.
