Job Summary:
Celara is seeking an experienced API Engineer to design and build a high-performance unified API platform that connects their applications to various services. This hands-on role involves architecting, implementing, and optimizing secure APIs that will be the foundation of the company's next-generation product capabilities.
Responsibilities:
• Build a robust API layer that integrates with a variety of third-party and internal services.
• Implement request routing, fallback strategies, and dynamic service selection logic.
• Develop secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (API keys, OAuth, RBAC).
• Enforce per-client rate limits and usage quotas to control access and protect resources.
• Implement logging, tracing, and monitoring of requests and responses for analytics and debugging.
• Ensure low-latency, high-availability API endpoints, including caching strategies and load balancing.
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to integrate the API platform into the broader infrastructure.
• Create clear API documentation, developer guides, and internal tooling for easier adoption.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3–6+ years developing production-grade APIs in Python (FastAPI), Node.js (Express), or Go.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining scalable API services.
• Experience working with enterprise API Gateway solutions (Kong, Mongo, MuleSoft, APISIX).
• Familiarity with cloud-native architecture (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proficiency in RESTful API design principles.
• Strong understanding of authentication standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Experience with rate limiting, caching (Redis), and monitoring tools.
• Comfort integrating external APIs and designing clean abstraction layers.
• You value clean code, clear documentation, and thoughtful testing.
• You’re comfortable working in early-stage environments and iterating quickly.
• You have strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Preferred:
• Experience working on multi-tenant platforms or large-scale API gateways.
• Familiarity with prompt management or workflow orchestration (not required).
• Exposure to observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus)
